Oxford County Business Success Stories:
Salford Farm Machinery
Salford Farm Machinery, located in Salford, Ontario manufactures and distributes tillage and seeding implements that are sold throughout North America, and internationally.
The business was started in 1978 by Jake Rozendall, who at that time was a recent immigrant from Holland. The bountiful agricultural land and easy access to major Canadian cities was what attracted him to Oxford County at that time.
Salford Farm Machinery has been able to grow steadily through the years, first by serving the large agricultural population in Oxford County and South Western Ontario, then by expanding into new markets throughout North America, and the World. Salford has also found success in developing innovative products that are relevant to a variety of farming practices. In 2010 Salford's innovative products received a Premier's award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence, and more recently, the 2012 Oxford County Federation of Agriculture President's Technology Award.
Today Salford enjoys the close proximity to the heart of South Western Ontario's manufacturing sector. The location’s benefits include access to a variety of raw material and component suppliers within a short drive of the main facility as well as access to major transportation routes such as the 400 series highways. Salford also utilizes fast and reliable service from speciality contractors who work with local large-scale manufacturing operations.
To successfully develop, maintain and market their products, Salford relies on a broad range of employees, from general labourers, skilled trades workers, office administrators, logistics support workers, IT graduates, engineers, etc. As Salford regularly conducts business in English, French and Russian, they need employees with some very specialized skills. Furthermore, Salford strives to find employees with a farming background, as they find there is a spirit of innovation, dedication and community that is common among farmers.
